A warm welcome to my last Newsletter for 2020! It is sent out 1st. December. And because it is the end of the Old Year and time for reflection during these “holy-days”, this Newsletter is even longer than my normal production……..I hope you will enjoy reading through these pages.
THESE CHANGING TIMES….TIME
All people of all ages have talked of change, of future uncertainty, of New Ages. So what’s different now about future uncertainty? A whole new plane. We are both participants and witnesses to the birthing of a new consciousness. Things do not change – we change. And if we want change then we have to do things different. In life, lots of people know what to do – but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough – you must take action. The most powerful way to shape our lives is to get ourselves TO TAKE ACTION. It’s our decisions, not the conditions of our lives that determine our Destiny.
Progress depends upon change and change is a rearrangement of the Thinker, and Thought and the Thing. So the fact is – reality is what it is, and the rest is just the thoughts in our minds. Our thoughts are not the direct experience itself – but only our interpretation of events. So it’s our interpretation that we get to live. This then becomes our reality. There are 6 simple words that describe why this is so – AS YOU THINK, SO YOU ARE. We do become what we think about all day long.
According to the work of Jane Roberts channelling the Teacher “Seth”, “…All illness is an attempt to escape from the truth”. How about we apply that to our current global Covid-19 crises!
Change is sight for another angle - that is all. During this month of Sagittarius we are challenged to see the direction that our life is moving towards – both as individuals and as Collective Humanity.
A sailor once said that to keep his mind right, “A man should look toward the horizon at least once a day.” This is a good practice “Horizon Watching” for any Sagittarian and for the rest of the us mortals. Daily send your eyes beyond the web of your own thoughts and into that intriguing distance – the space unknown.
We need to adopt the belief that we can change in a moment – after all, if you can create a problem in a moment, you should be able to create a solution too – right? You and I both know that when people finally do change, they do it in a moment, don’t they? There’s an instant when the change occurs. Why not make that instant NOW? Usually it’s the getting ready to change that takes people time.
One of my favourite mantras is: “Too much analysis leads to paralysis!” We can analyse our problems for years – but nothing changes until we change the sensations we link to an experience in our nervous system – the power of your brain. Reframing your mind-sets is the key to breaking patterns. People who feel stuck or blocked are locked into points of view. We tend to act in this way through habit and an inability to welcome alternative ideas. In this situation we allow the past to create our present. Everything is subject to reconstruction and renewal. The “re” factor is the basis of resurrecting, reshaping, regenerating, reviving and rejuvenating. Creative persons live in a state of constant search and exploration. The creative way of looking at the world assumes multiple truths and interactions among them. As Walt Whitman expressed it, the individual person contains multitudes.
And so the most fundamental skill of the creative person is the ability to constantly re-vision the world. The patterns of the constructed self CAN be broken, transcended to reach new heights.
In fact, there are 3 specific beliefs about responsibility that a person must have if they are going to create long-term change. You want to know them? Here they are.
First, we must believe, SOMETHING MUST CHANGE – not that it should change, or that it could or ought to change, but that it absolutely MUST. It’s only when something becomes a “must” that we begin the process of truly doing what’s necessary to shift the quality of our lives.
We must not only believe that things must change, BUT WE MUST BELIEVE, “I MUST CHANGE IT”. We must see ourselves as the source of the change. Otherwise, we’ll always be looking for someone else to make the changes for us, and we’ll always have someone else to blame when it doesn’t work out. We must be the source of our change if our change is going to last.
Third, we have to believe, “I CAN CHANGE IT” – without believing that it’s possible to change, we stand no chance of carrying through on our desires.
Humanity is a kingdom of Nature which, according to the Ageless Wisdom Teachings, suffers more conflict than any other kingdom. Life on Earth is a process of constant conflict, pulls and counterpulls. What we see as a problem, that which is not agreeable to us, becomes the obstacle. And you cannot change or transform anything if you are in denial. By inclusion, whatever it is, can become integrated and therefore subject to change & transformation. We have to include all those elements to complete the experience of Oneness. And when the personal viewpoint no longer exists, when we perceive the so-called “good” and “bad” as two aspects of the One Background, then we are living in a greater Reality.
It is a training in achieving HARMONY THRU CONFLICT. The nature of life is to contain both chaos and order. But it is this uncertainty that you feel inside yourself that becomes the Doorway to Wisdom.
One of the world’s most universal spiritual exercises involves establishing empathy and respect for adversaries and annoyances. Opening the heart to the disturbing situation enables us to invert its energy. So when we use our disturbances as materials of expression, we see that everything in life is fuel for the creative process. Creativity puts toxins to good use. This will show us that Humanity’s job on planet Earth is to bring Love into the world of Duality. And the Christ-mass Festival is a reminder each year to rise above our personal likes & dislikes and give out the Light & Love to each other and step into that sense of ONENESS which is WHOLENESS.
THE VISION OF SAGITTARIUS
During this month of Sagittarius, the Archer directs his vision to a higher goal. The arrow is a symbol for direction and of one-pointedness. All of us is pointed towards the distant goal we seek to achieve. What do we individually and collectively aspire to reach? It is vision that can provide answers and solutions to make sense of our lives. The vision which is the source of our inner quest, comes from intuition, not from literal outward manifestations. Finding this vision and learning to follow it is our goal in Sagittarius. And when the transit Sun enters the next sign of Capricorn on 21st. December, we learn to anchor that vision and begin to manifest more practical results. This is the purpose behind our “New Year’s Resolutions” at the start of each new year.
In the past, the highest buildings on planet Earth were Churches. In our present age, the highest buildings are now business institutes and political buildings. Let us look towards the science of building, a spiritual discipline & teaching in the past, and look towards the architecture of our own thought-form building.
Great authors have beautiful architectures of thought but many times we are not trained to enjoy the beauty. Not much observation is required to understand that thoughts stimulate energy centers and produce powerful vibrations. When we practise what thought power is and when we practise the art of using it properly, the lower mind is distilled into the higher mind leaving all the clay of emotion outside, allowing only pure energy as pure water. Thought power is the ultimate power which produces everything out of us. That we are almost prisoners of political and religious thought is made abundantly clear from the evidence of our history and the current climate. A new generation is being trained and prepared to meet the demands of the 21st. Century and recognizes the need to produce positive thought-forms as the building blocks of the new Aquarian society. A creator can make constructive thought-forms. We can make thought-structures and thought architecture for people to live in peace. When the majority produce their own responsible thought structures, the whole globe of Earth will be a brilliant city of international Light.

NEW YEAR HOROSCOPE 2021
The Hindus have a great saying – they say that when God decided to play a joke on Humanity and find the best place to hide, where no man would look, God choose to hide in man himself, as that was the last place he would think in looking!
I see that teaching present itself at the start of each New Year horoscope. When we enter the New Year at midnight local time 31st. December/1ST.January, at any location on planet Earth, the transit SUN (Spirit or Self) in CAPRICORN (third & final Earth sign symbolizing spirit deeply embedded in matter), will be located at the bottom of the horoscope, the 4th. House cusp or IC angle. This represents the deepest sphere of the unconscious on the horoscope, our roots and our foundations, both physical & spiritual. The Sun at this midnight placement is a mystery indeed. The other station’s of the Sun’s journey we get to see, with the Sun at Sunrise or East point (Ascendant), Sun at its highest position of the Day, Noon, the South or the Midheaven, and the Sun setting, Sunset when the Day force & the Night force meet at the Western angle or Descendant on the horoscope. The Sun makes its journey under the horizon during its mysterious nightly travels. This is the Northern Gate. And there are many wonderful reasons why the spiritual structure of the Great Pyramid in Egypt has it’s entrance on the Northern side.
And at the same time, the Venus ruled sign of LIBRA rises on the Ascendant or Eastern horizon. This is true for every location on planet Earth at the start of every New Year that we celebrate at midnight. Saturn is known as the Lawgiver and Venus the Peace-Maker and this is reflected in our traditions of saying “PEACE & GOODWILL TO ALL”.
Here is the horoscope for this year’s New Year celebrations January 1st. 2021 at the movement into the new day 00.00. The first chart is set for Copenhagen and the second chart is set for Miami, USA.
You will note that the 2 horoscopes are almost identical, although 6-hours apart, the same 5-degrees of Libra on the Ascendant, a Cancer Midheaven and the Sun in Capricorn located at the bottom of the chart. The only small difference is the position of the Moon which has moved from 2-degrees Leo on the Copenhagen horoscope to 5½-degrees on the Miami horoscope.

MAKING A FRIEND OF TIME
There are various Cosmic rhythms that we can identify. One is the cycle of the transit Sun on the Solstice & Equinox Gates, as we celebrate the Sun moving into Capricorn December 21st. and the shortest Day of Light on planet Earth for the year. Another cycle will be that of 7, 11, 21, 77 and 101 years. As we shall soon next month be entering into 2021 there are global opportunities for a new flowering to occur. What could this mean? Well let’s consider how in the next weeks we shall we celebrating the end of the Old Year and start of the New Year.
Have you noticed how we all wish each other a Happy New Year! Why only ONE Year? Why not Happy 21st. Century, Happy Millennium, Happy Decade! Why do we have such a shortened view of Time? And we still think in terms of being able to go back, or go forward.
On average here in modern Western society, we live 30,000 days, or 82 years. How good are we at making good use of the time allocated to us? TIME is the most precious of all things to those who seek to accomplish, to create, to prepare today for better achievement tomorrow. The course of human events has been profoundly affected by men & women who made good use of their time.
In the Age of Aquarius, we are to become TIME-LORDS, because the nature of the Soul will be known – and the Soul is outside of our limited concepts of “time” , being Ever-Present, Eternal, Timeless – all time and yet no time. We shall become in the raised state of consciousness, free of the limitations of past-present-future.
We know how old our physical body is, biologically speaking. So how old are your emotions? When were they formed? And Mind – where did that come from – how old is that? How old is the Galaxy? That gives a mild indication of how old is mind.
Any materialist who makes wild statements about life not being possible on our planet until it had cooled down, condensed & solidified, urgently needs to rethink. Mind can exist anywhere – it’s only the brain, the tool of the mind, that cannot.
This is Humanity’s new goal – Timelessness. Beyond Time there is Freedom – the freedom of the Soul. Spirit came first – not the body. This is the fundamental error of all nuts-&-bolts science. So what about the Churches and the Temples of past cultures, where people gathered to worship and connect to Spirit? The original meaning of the word TEMPLE was “Templos”, meaning a place of Time. That would mean those living in such dwellings, such as a priest, or more correctly understood, a shaman, a traveller being worlds, would master Time and practise multi-dimensionality and be capable of foreknowledge and divination. Divination is a word that means “to know the will of the Divine” – contact and attunement with the all-important moment of Time NOW.
In astrology, every moment matters. The Cosmic clock is ticking – as planets move and form celestial pattens – and provides a flavour, a meaning, a message for each passing minute, or for a whole period of time.
Did you know that the word HAPPINESS, comes from the root, “happen”, which basically means to be fully present to what is happening.
On Earth Time has a meaning, purpose and life. Beyond the Earth, our Time becomes an illusion. Students of Astrology will quickly identify the Lord of Time to be planet Saturn. When we discover the meaning of anything we are in a Soul state. The Personality experiences the CAUSES of the Soul. Meaning gives Power (1) Love (2) and Light (3).
Astrology students and professional Astrologers who work with the different planetary realities, which are archetypes of the ONE Reality, are training their awareness to experience multi-dimensionality. This is a celebration of diversity. As this intensifies, we find ourself making a Friend of Time, making a Friend of Saturn. We must always refer back to the position of our natal Saturn in the horoscope to appreciate fully what we have to learn about limitation and suppression. The function of natal Saturn is to alert us to our limits, to what we are predisposed to see as oppressive – and become the modern hero who responds to the challenge. Look to where your challenges are for that is where your purpose lies.
Our 365 Day year is dictated by the Seasons – but all else is arbitrary. The time units on Earth are as much the creation of politics and myth as they are of logic.
On the planets Mercury & Venus for example, a Day is longer than one Earth Year. The Mars Year is 669 Days, nearly twice as long as ours. And on distant Pluto, with its vast orbit around the Sun, a “year” lasts for 248 years of ours! Time is plastic, it can be stretched in many directions. Therefore, time is only a brain-conditioned reality – and this too can be stretched.
Just think logically for a moment. If we live within our Solar System, dominated by the Sun at its center and it’s family of planets orbiting around the Sun, then as everything emanated from the Sun with the Cosmic Bang and everything on earth, including ourselves contains this solar essence, or star material, then it is our destiny to know these other planetary members of our solar family – is that not correct? And ultimately to make contact with our Spiritual origins – the stellar regions in deep space because we have this star essence from the Sun – is that not correct? Now there’s a Sagittarian vison for today – aiming for the highest!
So when we have made a Friend of Saturn, a Friend of Time, then we are fit and ready to make increased contact with other realities and other dimensions beyond our finite viewpoint. In astrology Saturn sits on the threshold between the personal planets and the transpersonal planets (Uranus, Neptune & Pluto) which take us into Eternity. In fact Saturn actually protects us from the presence of being overwhelmed by universal energies, and simultaneously measures our readiness for embracing their evolutionary challenges. In the same way we find the “heavy” dense metal of lead associated with Saturn, used in hospitals & dentist clinics when protecting our bodies from x-ray machines. Think of the fact that many churches use lead on their roofs. By exchanging lead for copper, the metal of Venus, there is a totally different conductivity and exchange of energies possible. I must confess that I have a very strong presence of both Saturn & Venus in my horoscope - but no, before anyone asks me what my last incarnation was, no, it wasn’t as a thief., stealing the lead from Church roofs….!
THE ANCIENT FESTIVAL OF SATURNALIA
Reworking TIME was one of the underlying purposes behind the Festival of Saturnalia in the ancient world of Rome, which was celebrated from 17-23 December, during the month of Capricorn, to honour the god Saturn. This was a period of “no-time”, where all boundaries & social norms were overturned and Masters provided table service for their slaves, gifts were given and it was a carnival atmosphere of continual partying. It was seen as a time of liberty and free speech for all members of society. Time was abolished and a chaotic period of no roles, no hierarchy but absolute anarchy reigned for those days. Role-playing was the essence in the Saturnalia’s status reversals. Overeating and drunkenness became the rule and a sober person was the exception. Everyone knew, however, that the levelling of the social hierarchy was temporary and had limits. No social norms were ultimately threatened, because the holiday would end. Christians must have been horrified at such pagan customs, yet it served an essential psychological purpose of ventilation and release from society’s routines and frustrations.
Historians have shown that Saturnialia was regarded by philosophers at the time to symbolize the “freeing of souls into immortality”. What a wonderful statement for a public holiday! The revelries of Saturnalia were also linked to Roman mythology when the god Saturn reigned over the world in the Golden Age, when humans enjoyed the spontaneous bounty of the earth without labour in a state of innocence.
It is also clear that this Festival of Saturnalia influenced some of the customs associated with later celebrations in western Europe occurring in midwinter, particularly our traditions with Christmas. The popularity of Saturnialia continued into the 3rd & 4th. Centuries AD and as the Roman Empire came under Christian rule, many of its customs were recast into or at least influenced the celebrations surrounding Christmas and the New Year.
For us today, Saturnalia was a Festival of Light that lead into the Winter Solstice, with the abundant presence of candles symbolizing the quest for knowledge and truth. The renewal of light and the coming of the New Year was celebrated as the “BIRTHDAY OF THE INVINCIBLE AND UNCONQUERABLE SUN”.
The meaning of the word “Solstice” is “the Sun standing still”, as it reaches its furtherest point in the northern hemisphere, the shortest Day of Light on planet Earth. Six months earlier it was the Summer Solstice at Midsummer when we experience the longest Day of Light during the month of June & the opposite sign of Cancer. So at the Winter Solstice the Sun stands apparently still for 3 days, from its entry into Capricorn on Monday December 21st. until Thursday 24th. December 2020 – and then when it starts to move closer to the Earth, we celebrate the Return of the Light and the birth of all Sun-Gods, bringing us the Light. Isn’t that just a wonderful realization to have at the end of this year!
This annual event has been celebrated for many thousands of years before our modern time. For most people, for much of the world, this Winter Festival veils its meaning behind an excess of outer celebration. At this point in December, we turn silently into the deep, the dark and the cold. We dream the dreams that will flower in another Season. Festivals are an ancient way for us to connect with that sacred reality and also to remind us of our highest aspirations. As individuals and as a culture, we need strength, inspiration and reaffirmation of the deep truths so we can begin to live their goodness out in our daily lives and so help to restore balance to the planet. When entered into consciously and respectfully, Festival can be one of our most powerful tools for making high concepts real and satisfying. This is the time for us to open ourselves to the mystery of the Winter Festival – through song, dance, laughter, right action, prayer, meditation & ritual, we are inviting this great mystery to play itself out in our lives
In my family we gather together close friends on this date every year, to eat wonderful food, party with games and perform suitable group rituals to welcome the Return of the Light, such as fire rituals, singing and placing candles on our big Christmas Tree.
This year’s annual Winter Solstice event is so special because it also is the day when transit JUPITER & SATURN come together in the first degree of Aquarius and start a new 20-year cycle. This is so important to understand, so let’s take a few more minutes of your time to explore this phenomenon.
THE GREAT MUTATION & THE JUPITER-SATURN CONJUNCTION
The conjunction between these two planets can been seen with the naked eye this December and when they appear in the heavens together, it is like a big star, a rare phenomena indeed. And seeing such celestial events with our eyes and not through a telescope is a potent symbol ineed!
Jupiter and Saturn have a 20-year cycle and the evidence throughout time is that their conjunction has a major impact on the shaping of world events. Historically perhaps the most famous Jupiter-Saturn conjunction was the tradition that this occurred at the time of the birth of the Master Jesus and in the sign of Pisces, the sign of Christianity.
Rather than qualify the great significance of this planetary conjunction by showing you various matching events from the past, I want to focus your attention on their essential meanings.
JUPITER: Opportunity, possibility, expansion.
SATURN: is opposite – contraction, distillation, slimming down what doesn’t work.
We have the issues of TRUST (JUPITER) versus DOUBT (SATURN).
Their upcoming conjunction invites us to explore this in our lives.
Here is a diagram that I often use in my classes to help students work through this dilemma.
At the bottom of the ladder is SECURITY and the next level is TRUST. It is difficult for us to TRUST when we don’t feel SECURE. Once we do feel safe then the quality of trust becomes more available to us. Investigate what is “security” for you – and remember, your perception of what it means to be secure will change as your awareness expands.
First SECURITY, then TRUST, which leads to greater OPENNESS – and the more open we are, the more AWARE we can be. The opposite is also true – the more closed down we are, the more unaware we are of what is going on in our life.
With AWARENESS comes CHOICE – as we become aware of our behaviour patterns & blind spots, we have the choice to continue them if we feel they serve us – or to change then if they are too limiting. CHOICE, as the Italian Psychosynthesis creator, Roberto Assagioli declared, “Choice gives us dignity as a human being”.
Having CHOICE empowers us and leads to greater FREEDOM – and then we can reach the final rung of this ladder – LOVE. Attachment to another is not true love, it is our experience of freedom that enables us to truly Love All. Here is the diagram in its entirety, 7 steps:

In Spiritual Astrology it is taught that first we must face our Saturn limitations and overcome – and then we get to experience the Lord of Abundance, Jupiter. Transit Saturn for 2½-years has been travelling through its own sign of Capricorn, where we have been facing our limitations. At the end of this year, December 21st. to be precise, transit Saturn moves into the next sign of Aquarius - then we are faced with not limitations but our relationship with INFINITY.
Only by overcoming our limitations are we fit for working with the energies of SYNTHESIS. The challenge of Jupiter & Saturn leaving Capricorn – sign of tradition and conventional thought, the past, for Aquarius – sign of a new frontier in thinking and communications, the future - symbolizes a giant leap into the future of humanity.
Saturn in Capricorn – we spend our lives building structures and systems.
Saturn in Aquarius – we spend our lives tearing them down. Yet also we are asked to move forward into the wider world. This conjunction between Jupiter & Saturn in the humanitarian sign of Aquarius is about joining the human race.
So this conjunction is the end & beginning of the 20-year Jupiter-Saturn cycle that begun May 28, 2000. Yet it also marks the end of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction cycle in Earth signs, having been in effect since July 19th. 1802. So every 20 years these conjunctions have taken place in the Earth Element – but from December 21, 2020, these conjunctions will only take place in AIR signs through to December 20, 2159 – yes! And the next conjunction will take place in 2040 in the sign Libra.
For the Astrological Community this is called “THE GREAT MUTATION”, series where Jupiter & Saturn only come together now in Air signs – and the last time in history this took place was between the years 1166-1226!
How will these Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions into the Air Element for the next 2 Centuries influence us? Air signs are much “lighter” than Earth signs and the essential meaning is the magical word: COMMUNICATION. This will also inevitably develop humanity’s thought-power and thought form building. We are moving into Aquarius, the sign of “the Future”, not a return to the past or any form of normality - and that promises a revolutionary approach in all areas of human experience, from collective psychology to politics, economics, world trade and personal relationships, indeed our attitudes to life and our relationship to planet Earth and the other Kingdoms of Nature! Air signs promote increased fluidity of communication – yeah – bring it on! As Above, So Below!
This conjunction one can see with the naked eyeHere is the horoscope for the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, set for local time 18.18 Copenhagen latitude when these planets form the exact conjunction. Note that they form the dynamic square aspect to the modern ruler of Aquarius, the planet Uranus. The pull of the past & the pull of the Future – our Choice.

The Magic Garden in cooperation with Derek & Berit Seagrief, are proud & happy to announce an invitation to seekers of All ages, to join a unique program for young men & women becoming initiated into 21st. Century adulthood. To meet a growing need in our societies for alternative “Coming-of-Age” ceremonies to mark important transition times in our lives, we have combined our talents to emphasize the universality of life, rather than a specific tradition or religious experience. There will be outdoor garden ceremonies and indoor night-time rituals plus a build-up to the actual high-point of Confirmation.
If you and your 15-year old are excited by this ALTERNATIVE CONFIRMATION process at THE MAGIC GARDEN, then let us know here in December so we can arrange an information gathering in The Round Hall at the end of January 2021.
